El Fin (The End)

Alright, so this is it huh? The big shebang. The blog to end all blogs. Well, if this is the end, I'm going out in style! (Or at least, I certainly hope so) I in advance apologize for the lateness of night at which this will be posted, for i have been at my little brother’s band concert all day, supporting him with his musical endeavors. Anyways, getting back to my blogs.

In the beginning, the blog assignment seemed silly to me. I almost always half-assed it at the very least, and didn't really get very into my responses, giving very shallow, surface level answers. As the year has progressed though, i have found myself pouring more of my thoughts and own personal writing style into these blogs. In class, while just writing essays, and timed writes, and other various writing assignments, i have found myself constrained to the boundaries of which the assignment had me confined. Outside of the school's formidable perimeter, I can truly express what’s on my mind and what I really think about the topic of the week, and have found it to be a nice change of pace for me!

Along with just the general idea of me being free, i have found the blogs to be quite the inspirational tool for my writing as the year has progressed. It has really let me develop my OWN writing style, and embellish it. No matter how much i might moan, and complain in the classroom about blogging, I personally enjoy being to write in my own way every once in a while, and have found that opportunity with blogging. It has really gotten my creative juices flowing, and for that Mrs. Gilman, I thank you!

I have, however, not completed all of my blog assignments, which is a mark of shame upon my "Online Skyward grades" I unfortunately, am quite forgetful when it comes to things of this nature, even with constant classroom reminders. If I could, I would go back and make sure I did them, and wrote them well but alas, I cannot. If only, if only.

I am happy that you have this blog assignment setup. I personally, got quite a bit out of it, and have become quite fond of blogging. I definitely think that you should continue on with this assignment with your future classes. It's a great assignment and overall learning tool! The only suggestion that I have is to include some broader topics, and somehow integrate the use of constructive peer criticism more comprehensively throughout, other than just 2 comments.

Well, I have promised to go out with a band, and so I shall! With a very wise and emotion filled quote from one Han Solo spoken to Luke. “Well kid, it’s been a helluvah run!”

And that, my friend, is the end.

Essay Writing

Okay, here's the low down on me and essay writing. I love writing, I believe myself to be pretty decent at writing, and I am seriously thinking about a career involving writing. But this considered, I do not like essay writing. I despise trying to "prove a point" in my writing. It makes me feel confined, which I hate. I write freely, and without much pre-thought structure. So, essay's really drag me down. So, this year has been a bit of a challenge, adapting my style of writing to the various prompts of our essays. But, in the end, I am a pretty good essay writer. I can take a piece of literature, dig in deep, and put my thoughts to the paper. You people think it's good, and that's all that counts.

As for this essay, I think that it will be my finest yet! I have gone much deeper into thought about this play than previous essays with lots of fun adjectives and quirky ideas. I have triple checked, and am confident about this. I am getting a SOLID A! My past mistakes of poor thesis and non embedded quotes, have been fixed. I'm feeling good.

summer

okay, the first book that I am going to read this summer, is Under the Banner of Heaven by Jon Krakauer. My Dad has read it and highly reccommends it to me. That, coupled with the fact, that I love Jon's works, makes me very excited about this read. The second book I am hoping to read this summer, Is Deathstroke, by Richard Kelly. I personally know the author (he lives like, 2 blocks down from me) and the story, takes place in beautiful Western Washington! Plus, it is about an alien race killing off humans mixed with religious and eco friendly themes. It should be Epic!

Fate

Okay, so here's the low down on me being a Gemini. From what i have researched, Gemini's are clever, adaptable, energetic, and witty. They also are supposedly Superficial, Impulsive, Restless, Devious, and Indecisive. I believe my personality is very alike that of "gemini's" and in other ways, very different. First of all, i am not very adaptable. I usually have to make my environment adapt to me. I can be witty sometimes i guess, but generally, i take forever to whip out a comeback. I am often impulsive, and full of energy, as you very well know! Along with energetic, i am pretty restless and cant stay still for very long. On the other hand, i am not usually very devious, or indecisive. I usually can make my decisions very quickly, and stick to them till the end, if possible.

Culture shock!

Dire Straight's Romeo and Juliet:

A lovestruck romeo sing a streetsuss serenade
Laying everybody low with a lovesong that he made
Finds a convenient street light steps out of the shade
Says something like you and me babe how about it?

Juliet says hey it's romeo you nearly gimme a heart attack
He's underneath the window she's singing hey la my boyfriend's back
You shouldn't come around here singing up at people like that
Anyway what you gonna do about it?

Juliet the dice was loaded from the start
And I bet and you exploded into my heart
And I forget the movie song
When you gonna realise it was just that the time was wrong juliet?

Come up on different streets they both were streets of shame
Both dirty both mean yes and the dream was just the same
And I dreamed your dream for you and now your dream is real
How can you look at me as if I was just another one of your deals?

When you can fall for chains of silver you can fall for chains of gold
You can fall for pretty strangers and the promises they hold
You promised me everything you promised me thick and thin
Now you just say oh romeo yeah you know I used to have a scene with him

Juliet when we made love you used to cry
You said I love you like the stars above and I love you till I die
There's a place for us you know the movie song
When you gonna realise it was just that the time was wrong juliet?

I can't do the talk like they talk on the TV
And I can't do a love song like the way it's meant to be
I can't do everything but I'd do anything for you
I can't do anything except be in love you

And all I do is miss you and the way we used to be
And all I do is keep th beat and bad company
All I do is kiss you through the bars of a rhyme
Julie I'd do the stars with you any time

Juliet when we made love you used to cry
You said I love you like the stars above I'll love you till I die
And there's a place for us you know the movie song
When you gonna realise it was just that the time was wrong juliet?

A lovestruck romeo sings a streetsuss serenade
Laying everybody low with a lovesong that he made
finds a convenient streetlight steps out of the shade
Says something like you and me babe how about it?

Overall, this is just Romeo and Juliet's Story transferred into common day terms and essentially condensed. That's my two sense.

Skits

Okay, the first scene that i might like to do next week, is was in the very beginning of the book, when the convict and Pip first meet. It would show good initial characterization of both, and would represent the beginning. The next scene I would like to act out would have to be when Miss H. catches on fire, and Pip has to put her out with his coat, merely because it would be entertaining! The only other part of the book i would like to see acted out, is when Pip fights the "pale young gentleman. It would be a good action scene!

Another question

Okay, so i have been trying to figure out what is going to happen with Pip and Estella. "The nature of my relations with her (Estella), which placed me on terms of familiarity without placing me on terms of favor, conduced to my distraction." (325) I know that estella really doesnt want to be with Pip, but is forced by Miss. H., but Pip loves her (*cough* idiot! *cough*) Anyways, i just can't tell how it is going to play out, will Estella break Pip's heart? Or will she do the right thing, and let him down gently? These are all unanswerable questions, I know, but i can't help but ask them.
